Biography[]
Dr. Barton Shelby was first mentioned as the new husband of Leslie Michaelson. After blowing off her engagement to Neil Winters by saying marriage wasn't for her, Leslie met Barton on the internet and married him six weeks later. He appears onscreen on June 13, 2014 as the attending doctor treating Paul Williams after he is shot by Austin Travers. Barton tells Paul's wife Christine Blair that Paul will need a liver transplant to survive. Dylan McAvoy shares the same blood type as Paul and volunteers to get tested to see if he can be the donor. Barton and Leslie deliver the news to Dylan and Avery Clark that even though Dylan was a match to Paul's blood type, he is unable to donate a part of his liver because he would not survive the surgery. Barton and Leslie later have a run in at Crimson Lights with Leslie's ex- fiancée, Neil and Neil's new fiancée Hilary Curtis. Barton later told Dr. Ben Rayburn that the recent discovery of his crimes may result in him being fired from the hospital. Barton returned in 2015 to examine Joe Clark about his paralysis and Leslie was performing a court case protecting Neil Winters.
