William "Billy" Abbott and Amanda Sinclair are fictional characters from the CBS Daytime Drama The Young and the Restless. Amanda started going to a bar called the Empty Glass where she met Billy Abbott. Billy initially noticed her because she looked like Hilary, and he helped Amanda out when she was hassled by a drunk patron. The two of them struck up a friendship, she gets to know Billy, and they talk about "living in a fishbowl" and having people watch their every move. On paper, his life is perfect, but how much of it is an act? Billy has "always been nervous of perfect" and is "comfortable with messy." Amanda gets the wrong impression from Billy's natural flirtiness, and blatantly asks if he's looking to have an affair. No! He's not. He just needs a friend to talk to. He was tired of everyone trying to "fix" him, especially his girlfriend Victoria. Eventually, Billy broke up with Victoria and shared a kiss with Amanda, but their romance never developed further than that. They stayed friends and continued to confide in each other on occasion. Amanda became a bit paranoid, and felt guilty for what had happened to Victoria. Guards were posted outside of Amanda's hotel room for protection. Amanda and Billy made an agreement to keep things professional and set personal boundaries. Even so, Amanda couldn't help but confide in Billy about finding out she was Hilary's long-lost twin.
