The pair are friends that are leaning on each other in tough times. After the death of Heather, Daniel needs someone that it is not his mom or his sister to talk to so Tessa became his listening ear.
Tessa offered to give him guitar lessons as an other outlet that he can go to so he can heal from then loss of Heather.
On the other hand, Daniel is helping Tessa deal with the rough patch currently going on in her marriage to Mariah.
As time of the pair hanging out Daniel began to have feelings for Tessa which he told his dad that he doesn't know what to do with what he is feeling.
