Doris Collins was a fictional character on The Young and the Restless, portrayed by Karen Hensel and formerly Victoria Ann Lewis.
Storyline[]
Doris Collins is the mother of Sharon Newman, the grandmother of the late Cassie Newman, Mariah Copeland, Noah Newman, and Faith Newman, and the adoptive great-grandmother of Aria Porter-Copeland. Doris grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and moved to Genoa City in 1994. She was a single mother raising her daughter Sharon. While out looking for a teenage Sharon in a snow storm, Doris was upset and anxious to find her daughter. She ended up in a car accident and permanently lost the use of her legs. Finding out sixteen year old Sharon was pregnant put an emotional toll on Doris. Knowing they could never care for a newborn, she convinced her daughter to give the baby girl up for adoption.
Though it wasn't easy, Sharon survived the ordeal. Years later, Doris and Sharon were reunited with Sharon's little girl Cassie. Sharon and her husband Nicholas Newman ended up winning custody of Cassie and Doris grew very close to her granddaughter. In later years, tragedy would strike again when Cassie died as a result of a car accident leaving those who loved her in utter devestation. Doris moved out of town and spent her time taking classes and trying new things.
Doris visited Sharon in prison after she had been arrested for the murder of Skye Newman. Doris was dissapointed that Sharon chose to put Adam Newman before her children, and said she wouldn't attend her trial. Doris later mourned Sharon after she had fled custody and was presumed dead in a car crash. Doris blamed Adam for causing the events that led to Sharon's "death", but Sharon was eventually located alive. Doris was last seen in late 2011, after trying to get Sharon to leave town with her, and start a new life.
In 2014, Sharon mentioned Doris was on a cruise and would not be attending her wedding. As result, she never met her recently discovered granddaughter and Cassie's twin Mariah Copeland.
