Biography[]
Frank was the father of Cassie Newman and Mariah Copeland and the adoptive grandfather of Aria Porter-Copeland.
During Sharon Collins' early years of high school in Madison, Wisconsin, she ran off in rebellion to join her best friend, Grace Turner and her boyfriend, Frank. A dangerous snow storm developed. Sharon's mother, Doris Collins, tried to look for Sharon and she was paralyzed in a car accident.
When Sharon told Frank that she was pregnant after he had pressured her to have sex, he wanted nothing to do with her or his child. Sharon had the baby anyway.
Cassie was given up for adoption at birth as Sharon was only 16 years old at the time Cassie was born; later in the future, it was revealed Sharon was pregnant with twins; included Mariah.
Frank showed up in Genoa City and began trying to see Cassie. Cassie wanted to know who he was, but her parents (now Nicholas Newman and Sharon) wouldn't tell her. While on a trip in Denver, Sharon had a one night stand with Cameron Kirsten who tried to see her again in GC.
When Sharon tried to leave, Cameron tried to rape her. She smashed a champagne bottle over his head and thought she killed him. She asked Larry Warton to hide the body, which he did in the sewer.
When Sharon started being haunted by the "ghost" Cameron, she went to see the body in the sewer to make sure Cameron was dead. Much to everyone's shock, the body turned out to be that of Frank who had stopped trying to see Cassie around New Year's Eve.
It turned out that just before he disappeared Frank had made an appointment that night to meet with a lawyer about having a relationship with Cassie but never showed up. Sharon became the number one suspect in his murder. Frank's body was found after it washed out of the sewer. Cameron had set Sharon up for Frank's murder, but she was later exonerated.
It was after this that Sharon and Nick finally told Cassie that Frank was her biological father and it then made sense to Cassie why Frank was interested in seeing her. Cassie was aware that Frank didn't want anything to do with her at first but it seemed that he might have changed his mind but now she'd never know. Nick and Sharon apologized for keeping Cassie's father away from her. Cassie was upset about Frank being gone but said that Nick would always be a father to her.
