Cash Cashman (born Jerry Cashman) was a fictional character on The Young and the Restless, portrayed by John Gibson.
Cash Cashman owned and danced in a strip club. In 1980, Cash came to Genoa City from the east coast and offered Nikki Reed a job in the "entertainment" business. She'd have to dance the striptease, he told her, but that would only be to get attention. Once his new nightclub, The Bayou, took off, he swore that Nikki would be dancing in legitimate productions. He'd even help her get to the big stage in Vegas! A star struck Nikki accepted the job, much to the disappointment of those who loved her.
And when Jonas learned of Cash's sizable gambling debt, he, too, warned Nikki that she might get hurt. In 1981, Cash bought and ran The Bayou strip club. Nikki worked there as a stripper. Cash was a dancer there also. He was a lovable rascal, very irresistible. Katherine Chancellor made a trip or two to watch him strip and even hornswaggled prim and proper Liz Foster to go with her. In time, Cash also became Katherine's paid escort. Cash introduced Nikki and Katherine Chancellor to each other. Katherine truly fell in love with Cash and wanted to marry him. Unknown to her, he was addicted to gambling and owed money to some bad guys.
Katherine was trying to bail Cash out of some of his gambling debt's but she didn't realize how much trouble Cash was in. In 1982, their plans were brought to an abrupt end when Cash was shot and killed. Nikki and Katherine were devastated and bonded over their loss of Cash. They consoled each other because they'd both lost someone important to them.
